Elderly woman forced to crawl with robbers while they loot house

Port Elizabeth – Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of house robbery after 70-year-old woman was brutally attacked at her home, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said the incident occurred at a smallholding at Brakkefontein during Tuesday night.

"The victim stayed alone and during the night she woke up when her bedroom window was broken and three suspects entered the room."

"They threatened her and demanded money and firearms," said Janse van Rensburg.

Janse van Rensburg said the elderly woman was unable walk without a walker, but the suspects insisted she crawl through the house with them while they ransacked her home.

The suspects fled with cash, a wallet, and a cellphone.

The victim later managed to call the neighbour for assistance who contacted the police.

Janse van Rensburg said the victim was assaulted by the suspects, but did not want to go to hospital.

No arrests have been made.
