Four co-workers killed in crash

Eastern Cape - Four people were killed in an accident on the N2 near the Storm River tollgate, Eastern Cape police said.

Lt Col Priscilla Naidu said a Honda Civic and Opel Corsa collided in bad weather conditions on Wednesday.

“All four occupants, employees from Game Store in Mossel Bay, of the Honda Civic died on the scene.”

Naidu said Claude Appels, 42, Chriszelda Floors, 22, Sune McCarthy, 27, and Janine Meyer,26, were all declared dead on the scene.

They were travelling from Mossel Bay to a function in Port Elizabeth when the accident happened.

“The driver of the Corsa, Johannes van der Merwe, 37, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Plettenberg hospital,” Naidu said.

Police were investigating a case of culpable homicide. - Sapa
