A teenage girl, 15, drowned at the Wild Coast Sun Casino's beach in the Eastern Cape on Thursday, paramedics said.
Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said emergency workers managed to save another teen in distress.
“Lifeguards noticed the two young girls were in difficulty while swimming in the ocean and rushed to their aid. The National Sea Rescue Institute boat was also called in.”
Both girls were pulled from the water. Paramedics tried for over an hour to resuscitate the 15-year-old, but she died on the scene.
The other girl was stabilised and taken to a nearby hospital. - Sapa
