A man died after he fell from a cellular phone network tower on a farm in Boknesstrand near Grahamstown, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.
“It is alleged that the deceased was busy with maintenance to a structure on the tower about 25 metres from the ground when the structure broke off, resulting in him plummeting to his death,” Captain Mali Govender said.
An ambulance was called to the scene and Reginald Cloete, 25, was declared dead on the scene on Monday.
“(Cloete) is believed to have been part of a team that was working on the project when the tragic incident happened.”
Govender said an inquest docket was opened and police were investigating the death. - Sapa
