Eastern Cape - A man died after he was run over by a train along Algoa Road in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

Lieutenant-Colonel Priscilla Naidu said on Wednesday the train driver noticed an obstruction on the tracks and tried to stop when he realised it could be a person lying there.

“The driver braked but could not stop immediately and the train came to a halt after hitting the object. The man… died immediately,” said Naidu.

She said it was believed that Mzwandile Dandashe, 44, was epileptic.

A case of culpable homicide was opened. - Sapa
