Port Elizabeth - Port Elizabeth police are investing a double murder after two men were shot dead in a drive-by shooting in the city's northern areas on Thursday night.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said two gang members affiliated to the Upstanding Dogs were fatally wounded in Gelvandale while sitting in a car.

"According to police information, at about 20:00, the deceased, Hillerion Jacobs, 27, and Dane Oosthuizen, 27, were on their way home after attending a party at a school," said Naidu.

Naidu said it was further alleged that an unknown vehicle followed Jacobs and as he attempted to turn from an intersection, the suspect vehicle pulled alongside the two men and opened fire.

"Jacobs who is the owner of the white VW Polo and Oosthuizen sustained multiple gunshots," she said.

The Provincial Gang Investigation Unit is investigating two cases of murder.

No arrests have been made.
