Revamp for ECape scholar transport

The Eastern Cape's scholar transport service will be redesigned for over R4 million, the provincial transport department said on Wednesday.

The department had appointed SSI Engineers and Environmental Consultants (Pty) Ltd to carry out the job, spokesman Ncedo Kumbaca said in a statement.

“Since its migration from the department of education to the department of transport, there has been a significant improvement in the service.

“However, the department still believes that a lot can still be done in order to improve the efficiency of the service.”

He said there was control, for the first time, over who transported pupils and the type of vehicles used. - Sapa
