Three surfers collided, seriously injuring two of them, at Jeffreys Bay in the Eastern Cape at the weekend, the NSRI said on Monday.

“We found a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old female both suffering injuries after reportedly colliding with a surfer while they were both surfing,” National Sea Rescue Institute spokesman Craig Lambinon said in a statement.

The boy suffered a laceration to the head, possible spinal injuries and a possible concussion. The girl sustained a cut to the head.

The NSRI found them on the beach after they had been brought ashore by fellow surfers on Sunday around 6.30pm. Both were hospitalised.

“The surfer that they collided with on the water was not injured,” Lambinon said. – Sapa
