Queenstown - Three people were killed and 20 injured when a truck swerved in front of a bus on the R61 between Queenstown and Cofimvaba on Friday morning, Arrive Alive Eastern Cape said.

After emergency services arrived, they had to free people from the wreckage of the bus, spokesman Tshepo Machaea said.

One critically injured person was airlifted to a hospital in East London. The bus driver, one of those killed, lost control after trying to avoid a collision with the truck.
