Eastern Cape - Two people were killed and five others injured in an accident on the N2 between Dutywa and Butterworth on Tuesday, Eastern Cape police said.

“A truck collided with two vehicles and two people died on the scene,” Captain Jackson Manatha said.

A driver in his 50s and a woman passenger in her 30s were killed. Two people from a bakkie and three from the truck were taken to Butterworth Hospital in critical condition.

Police were investigating a case of culpable homicide.

“The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage and the police investigations are underway.”

The names of the dead could not be revealed as their next of kin had not been informed. - Sapa
