Bloemfontein -

Four people were killed in a bus crash outside Bloemfontein early on Thursday morning.

“Fourteen other passengers including the bus driver, sustained various injuries and they were all treated on scene and transported to (hospitals) for further care,” said ER24 medics spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson.

She said a representative from the bus company arrived at the scene and collected the passengers' luggage to return to them once they left hospital.

The accident followed the driver's swerving to avoid a buck in the road, ER24 added.

The vehicle had been travelling from the Eastern Cape to Johannesburg. - Sapa
