Bloemfontein - One person was killed and three others injured when they were struck by lightning in Bloemfontein, paramedics said on Sunday.
The four were struck on Saturday evening at a camp site near Tierpoort dam, said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.
Four adults were lying on the ground when the paramedics arrived.
“Paramedics discovered one of the patients had been fatally wounded while the other three had sustained injuries ranging from moderate to critical, including severe burns.”
The injured were treated on the scene before they were taken to hospital, said Meiring.
