A man died and two were injured when their car veered out of control and hit a tree in Heuwilsig, Bloemfontein, on Friday night, said paramedics.

It took rescue workers nearly an hour to free the driver, who died on his way to hospital, said ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson.

The other two men, also in their 20s, were seriously injured and were taken to hospital, she said.
