Bloemfontein - Police are searching for the body of a seven-year-old boy who went missing at the Vaal dam near Deneysville, Free State police said on Thursday.

Bongani Mosia and Nthako Thithi, both aged seven, were reported missing after they were last seen playing under the bridge in Refengkgotso around 5pm on Saturday.

“Divers are still searching the area,” said Colonel Thandi Mbambo.

The body of one of the boys, Nthako, was found on Sunday.

Two men questioned by police on Sunday on allegations that they were involved in the disappearance of the boys were released on Tuesday.

Police also questioned a third man on Monday, but he also could not be linked to the incident.

Mbambo said police registered an inquest for further investigation.

The search for Bongani would resume on Friday morning.
