Johannesburg -

Seven people were killed and 12 injured when a taxi collided with a car near Bethlehem, Free State, paramedics said on Saturday.

The accident occurred on the R26 about 30km away from Bethlehem, said Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha.

Two of the deceased were children, he said.

The injured were transported to a nearby hospital after being treated by paramedics.

Police would investigate the accident. - Sapa
