Suspects nabbed for fatally stabbing Free State brothers

Winburg – Two men and two women have been arrested in connection with the murder and attempted murder of two brothers in Makeleketla in Winburg in the Free State.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane, said the two men, aged 29 and 30, and two females, aged 22 and 23, were arrested after the attack on the Mohlokoane brothers, Lintikile and Thabiso, in the early hours of June 12.

"The two men were arrested within minutes after allegedly stabbing two brothers in the early hours of 12 June 2017 at about 00:30 at Makeleketla, Winburg," Mokhuoane said.

"One of the brothers, Lintikile Mohlokoane, 40, died at one of the local hospitals. The other brother, Thabiso Mohlokoane, was seriously injured and is receiving medical attention."

The two brothers were from Verkeerdevlei. Mokhuoane said that during the police investigation it emerged that the two women were also allegedly involved in the incident and were arrested.

The motive for the killing was still unknown at this stage.

Mokhuoane added that the suspects would appear soon at the Winburg Magistrate's Court.
