Johannesburg – Ten schoolchildren were injured on Friday morning after a taxi and light motor vehicle collided at the Acacia and Ebony Road intersection in Northcliff, Johannesburg, reports ER24.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene they found that a taxi and light vehicle had collided.

“The taxi was found lying on its side while the light motor vehicle was found on the side of the road,” said Meiring.

“On assessment, paramedics found that the taxi had been carrying children, aged between 5 and 13, to school when the collision occurred.”

Meiring said paramedics assessed the children and found that all 10 had sustained only minor injuries in the collision.

Paramedics treated the injured children and transported them to various hospitals for further treatment. The driver of the light motor vehicle was uninjured.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
