One person has been killed and 40 injured following a bus crash on the N1 outside Pretoria, paramedics said on Saturday.
“The body of a person was found underneath the bus and was declared dead on the scene,” said Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks.
The accident took place near the Pumulani toll plaza around 5.40am, said Wicks.
“Doctors, paramedics and fire-fighters on the scene are working closely together to free a 13-year-old boy trapped in the wreckage.”
A helicopter was on standby to transport the boy to hospital for treatment once he freed from the wreckage.
The bus appeared to have rolled and came to rest on the side of the road. The cause of the accident remains unknown.
