Johannesburg - Five people were killed and seven injured when the house they were building collapsed on them in Alberton, south of Johannesburg, on Monday, paramedics said.
Another nine people were still believed to be trapped under the rubble, Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said.
Rescuers were currently working on freeing them. The seven injured were treated on the scene and taken to hospital.
The cause of the accident was unknown.
