Convicted drug-dealer Glenn Agliotti has taken a swipe at Gareth Cliff following the radio DJ’s arrest this week.

Agliotti expressed his delight on Twitter: “Is Cliff still on radio or has he been banned which he should be, as well as from Idols, the idiot!”

Agliotti then tweeted “So Gareth Cliff, you had a lot to say about me. You are the media arsehole, dont blame them for reporting on your arrest c**t. So f**k you.”

Cliff was nabbed for speeding in his Range Rover on Tuesday night and detained briefly at the Lyttelton police station, in Pretoria, after he was caught allegedly doing 182km/h in a 120km/h zone.

Initially, Gauteng traffic police spokesman Busaphi Nxumalo said it was too late for Cliff to get bail and that he would probably spend the night at the police station and appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.

But Cliff spent “minutes” in jail before being released.

Asked what Cliff had made of Agliotti’s outburst on Twitter, his manager Rina Broomberg said the DJ “probably ignored the tweets”.

“Its Glenn Agliotti, I’m not surprised,” she said. “We wouldn’t dignify it with a response,” Broomberg added.

By yesterday, Twitter was abuzz with South Africans tweeting about Cliff’s confrontation with Agliotti.

Adrian Keith Garden said: “Jeez Glenn Agliotti’s comments to Gareth Cliff are rough! Woah! Celebrity death match South Africa?”

Another tweeter, Thabiso Sepeng, added: “Looks like Glenn Agliotti is taking shots at the Cliff Master.”

Meanwhile, the Idols judge has rubbished reports that he received preferential treatment following his arrest.

He told 5fm DJ Rob Vember this week: “I suppose when people recognise your name they’re in fact more likely to make an example of you than give you special treatment.” – Sameer Naik with additional info by Sapa
