Johannesburg - A 33-year-old woman was arrested in connection with a body of a newborn baby found in a plastic bag in Lenasia on Saturday, police said.
Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said police were called to Thembelihle informal settlement in Lenasia where the body of the baby had been discovered by residents in a plastic bag at about 9am.
The dead baby had one leg and police were investigating if something had happened to the other leg.
Preliminary investigations showed that the baby was a stillborn.
“The body of the baby was taken to a government mortuary. But police investigation led to a 33-year-old woman who probably had been pregnant, who was identified as the possible mother,” Makhubela said. - Sapa
