Johannesburg - A 30kg, 3.8 metre Burmese python has been found lying outside her enclosure after causing consternation when she disappeared a day ago.

The snake, named Bubbles, went missing on Wednesday morning from a pet shop at the Oakfields shopping centre in Benoni, east of Johannesburg.

“She was found this morning (Thursday),” Titan Reptiles owner Mark McGill told Sapa.

“The guy who works for me found it this morning, rolled up on the floor when he opened the door.”

McGill said he had no idea where Bubbles - who had somehow escaped from her cage - had been hiding.

The 50-square-metre shop had been searched at the time, but Bubbles could not be found.

“I have no idea where she had hidden. I'm waiting for camera footage (from the centre) to confirm that she didn't leave the shop,” he said. - Sapa
