Randburg - An elderly woman drowned in a swimming pool in Robindale, Randburg, on Thursday afternoon, paramedics said.

The woman, 69, was seen by her son floating face down in their pool, Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said.

He pulled her out and tried to resuscitate her.

Steinmann said paramedics arrived and tried to help. She was declared dead on the scene.
