Vereeniging - A man was injured when a pipe fell on him while he was working in a seven-metre high building in Vereeniging, on Wednesday, paramedics said.
He was loosening one pipe when another fell down from above, said ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson.
“Paramedics found the man clinging to a pipe below him, with the other 30cm diameter pipe resting on his back,” she said.
The man, in his 20s, was doing maintenance work at the industrial site just off the R42 Barrage road in Vereeniging.
“He managed to grab onto the pipe he was sitting on and clung to it while he waited for help to arrive.”
The injured man was treated on the scene before being airlifted to the Union Hospital in Alberton, said Jackson.
