Pretoria - Five people, including two children, were injured when their vehicle collided head-on with an ambulance in Wonderboom on Sunday morning, Tshwane emergency services said.

One of the children sustained critical injuries, while another child sustained serious injuries in the accident, spokesman Johan Pieterse said.

“The vehicle came onto the oncoming lane and collided with the ambulance,” he said.

The injured were treated on scene and were taken to nearby hospitals for further medical care.

The ages and gender of the children, as well as the other injured people, could not be immediately confirmed.

There were no patients in the ambulance.
