Johannesburg - Five people were critically injured after five cars and a truck collided on the N3 Eastern bypass near Marlboro drive in Modderfontein, Gauteng paramedics said on Friday.

“Paramedics found that a heavy goods vehicle and five motor vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision,” said Netcare911

spokeswoman Santi Steinmann.

“Four people were found to be in a serious condition while a 75-year-old man was entrapped in his vehicle and found to be in a critical condition.”

Steinmann said rescue equipment was used to rescue the man from his vehicle.
