Johannesburg - Five people were critically injured after five cars and a truck collided on the N3 Eastern bypass near Marlboro drive in Modderfontein, Gauteng paramedics said on Friday.

“Paramedics found that a heavy goods vehicle and five motor vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision,” said Netcare911

spokeswoman Santi Steinmann.

“Four people were found to be in a serious condition while a 75-year-old man was entrapped in his vehicle and found to be in a critical condition.”

Steinmann said rescue equipment was used to rescue the man from his vehicle.

She said all the injured people were treated on scene and were later rushed to hospital. - Sapa
