Johannesburg - Five people were killed in a head-on collision in Westonaria, paramedics said on Tuesday.
Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said the accident, which occurred shortly after 9pm on Monday night, claimed the lives of two men, two women and a girl.
A three-year-old girl was critically injured and taken to hospital.
He said that when paramedics and rescue crews, including members of the Randburg Fire Brigade, arrived at the accident scene they found the road blocked by debris.
The cause of the accident was not known and is being investigated by police.
