Johannesburg - Four people were killed and 13 injured on Thursday when a taxi collided with a heavy goods truck in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni emergency services said.

Spokesman William Ntladi said the four people died on the scene, while another person sustained severe head injuries.

“One other patient was airlifted to Johannesburg hospital with a chopper as a result of injuries sustained on the head,” he said.

Four of the injured were in a critical condition, while seven people sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious.

Police were investigating the cause of the accident.
