Denver, Johannesburg -

A four-year-old girl died when she was hit by a truck in Denver, Johannesburg, police said on Tuesday.

She was hit when she ran into the road while her mother was walking her to school on Monday morning, said Constable Mpho Masakhane.

“Paramedics declared her dead at the scene,” she said.

The truck driver was not arrested, but a culpable homicide docket was opened.

A demonstration by a group of residents from Denver followed shortly after the accident.

They demanded the municipality build speed-humps on Main Reef Road, and alleged to have begun making the requests in 2011. - Sapa
