Man dies in N1 crash in Joburg

Johannesburg - A man died and 28 other people were injured in an accident on the N1 North in Johannesburg on Monday, paramedics said, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said a truck, a taxi and several other vehicles were involved in the collision next to the 14th Avenue off-ramp at 7am.

Steinmann said one of the vehicles had overturned on the N1 North and had landed on the N1 South, causing traffic congestion.

“At the moment our crew is busy using Jaws-of-Life to rescue a woman who is trapped in her car. Her vehicles was squashed against the road barrier during the collision.”

She said details about the accident would follow soon. - Sapa
