Pretoria - A man has died after attempting to cross the N1 in Centurion on foot and getting hit by an SUV, Gauteng paramedics said on Friday.
The man had attempted the crossing with a group of friends on Thursday evening, said ER24 spokesman Andre Visser in a statement.
The man was allegedly clipped by a Mercedes SUV and knocked to the ground.
“What exactly happened next is unknown, but the man was allegedly run over by two trucks,” Visser said.
Paramedics found the man to have sustained several fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene.
Visser said no one else was injured in the accident. Local law enforcement is investigating the matter further. - Sapa
