Erasmuskloof, Pretoria - A man died when he was hit by a truck while crossing the N1 in Erasmuskloof, Pretoria, on Tuesday, paramedics said.

The man appeared to have been running across the carriageway when he moved into the path of a heavy goods truck, which struck him and passed over him, said Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks.

He died on the scene from serious injuries.
