A man was killed and two other people injured on Friday when a truck and a car crashed on the R544 in Eikenhof, south of Joburg, said emergency services.

Spokesman Robert Mulaudzi said they had to use the jaws-of-life to extract two passengers from the wrecked car.

“They are in a critical condition but are stable. They've been transported to a nearby hospital,” he said.

The truck driver suffered moderate injuries.
