Johannesburg -

- A man was killed when he was struck by a car after his vehicle overturned on the N3 in Alberton, south of Johannesburg, on Sunday morning, paramedics said.

He managed to clamber from the wreckage, which came to a halt in the road, but was hit by a car trying to avoid the accident, Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks said.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the man had sustained critical injuries and had sadly died as a result.”

His body was found in the middle of the freeway.

A young boy who was travelling with him was also critically injured.

“The boy was treated and stabilised at the scene and transported by ambulance to the Netcare Union Hospital,” Wicks said. - Sapa
