Johannesburg - Just over 100 people have embarked on a march to the Johannesburg Zoo to publicly denounce the abuse of women and children.

Johannesburg City Parks & Zoo decided to take part of 16 days of activism campaign, which runs from November 25 to December 10, to raise awareness against women and children violence.

JCPZ who are in charge of Johannesburg parks and open spaces, said they wish to highlight their determination to ensure parks and other facilities are safe for all citizens and tourists.

Those marching include staff from City Parks as well as people from civil society.

The Department of Community Safety, Social Development and Sonke Gender Justice are a few who have partnered up with JCPZ in the campaign for 16 days of activism.
