Johannesburg - Joburgers will face the full wrath of winter by this weekend as a cold front is set to cripple several parts of the country, bringing with it possible snow and rainfall.

The South African Weather Services told The Star this morning that the cooler weather conditions are expected to reach Gauteng by Saturday night.

According to forecaster Vanetia Phakula, this will see a drop in temperatures which will set in on Sunday.

“Temperatures in Joburg on Sunday are expected to drop to around 15 degrees, while in Pretoria it will be about 16 degrees.”

Phakula said the cold front will arrive in Gauteng from the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, which are already experiencing cold weather conditions.

“We are expecting wet and very cold weather conditions with possible snow on the high- lying areas of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape from tomorrow,” she said.
