Johannesburg -

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department has warned motorists to be cautious on the roads as two major races would take place on Saturday afternoon.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said there would be a wheel chair race and a 5km race taking place at the same time in the south of Johannesburg.

The two races are part of the Soweto marathon which would take place on Sunday.

The races would start at 2pm at Nasrec showgrounds and end at the same spot at 5pm.

Roads which would be affected included among others Aerodrome, Adcock Ingram, Nasrec and Commercial road.

“Only the left side of the road will be cordoned off and motorists will use the other lane. We urge motorists to be extra careful and look out for people in wheelchairs and athletes on the road,” said Minnaar. - Sapa
