Children with free loaves of bread handed out at Dobsonville Stadium during the Mandela memorial service.

Johannesburg - A scant crowd at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto showed little respect for President Jacob Zuma during the memorial service for Nelson Mandela on Tuesday.

The weather kept huge crowds away, and those who made the effort appeared uninterested in what Zuma had to say.

Dobsonville Stadium was one of the venues where the public could watch the memorial service, held at the FNB Stadium, on big screens.

People stood and applauded the arrival of US President Barack Obama, and their admiration for the US president was evident throughout his speech.

But the gathering jeered each time Zuma's image appeared on the screen.

During his tribute, people left the stands to get loaves of bread being given out free of charge at a marquee in the stadium.
