Johannesburg - Ekurhuleni cemeteries will be closed for burials on Christmas and New Year's day, the municipality on Tuesday.

“Arrangements have been made with all undertakers in the region with regards to the processing of payments from 1pm December 24 to January 1 when municipal offices are closed,” said spokeswoman Lebogang Ramashala.

She said cemeteries would open for those who wanted to visit the graves.

Ramashala said residents who wanted to pay their municipal accounts during this period could do so at retail stores.

Recreational parks would be open every day from 7am until 7pm, she said.
