A woman was killed and three people were injured in an accident in the Dwinddie area in Germiston on Saturday, said Ekurhuleni Metro Police.

“A Hyundai Getz travelling on the Black Reef road towards Katlehong lost control, hit a capstone and drove straight into a precast wall of an engineering company,” said spokesman for metro police, Kobeli Mokheseng.

The 23-year-old male driver and two female passengers, both in their 20's were rushed to the Natalspruit hospital with serious injuries. The other passenger, a 28-year-old female, died on the scene.

“It is not clear what occurred before the accident but preliminary investigations reveal that fatigue might have played a role,” said Mokheseng.

A case of culpable homicide was opened at the Elsburg police station. - Sapa
