A pilot escaped without harm when his light aircraft caught fire in Midrand, Johannesburg on Sunday morning, paramedics said.

The fire was caused by engine failure, which resulted in the pilot making an emergency landing.

Emergency workers found the front of the aircraft engulfed in flames, ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson said.

“The pilot was standing a short distance away with a fire extinguisher in hand,” said Jackson. - Sapa
