Johannesburg - Areas in the south of Johannesburg were left without electricity on Thursday, City Power said.

“City Power is currently experiencing a power interruption which has affected the following areas Ä Lenasia, Eldorado Park, Klipspruit, Nancefield, Daveland and surrounding areas,” said spokesman Sol Masolo.

The power interruption was caused by the theft of 88kV electricity pylons between the Nirvana and Nancefield substations.

“City Power electricians are currently in the areas and have started the project to replace the stolen pylons and also to repair those that can be replaced,” said Masolo.
