POWER OUTAGE IN TSHWANE

Power supply was interrupted in some suburbs west of Pretoria on Thursday due to cable faults, the city of Tshwane said.

"Three cable faults were identified in Silverton extension five," said spokesman Lindela Mashigo.

The affected areas were Silverton, Eersterust, Watloo, and Samcor Park.

The city's technicians were on site identifying the fault points for repairs.

"It is assumed that the repair work might take longer due to the cables that are situated under Simon Vermooten Road which may pose some restrictions."

Mashigo said the power would be restored by midnight if everything went well.

He said technicians were also repairing a circuit breaker that burned due to overloading, cutting electricity in Nellmapius.

"Power should be restored in Nellmapius by this afternoon."

Power users were urged to treat all electrical points as live, and switch off all non-essential appliances to assist with the load.
