Pretoria – Mabopane community members gathered at Barlos Trading Enterprise to witness the official launch of the restoration project of Tolwane Bridge.

Ward Councillor Tshepo Motaung said he was happy to see the petition by community members was taken into consideration.

He told the residents that the project was a result of their petitions.

MEC for Roads and Transport Ismail Vadi officially launched the bridge project. He said the value of the project was over R29 million.

The bridge, over Tolwane River, was washed away during the heavy floods in 2014.

As a result, commuters and public transport operators had to take a detour while travelling in and out of the area.
