The water in the Mpumalanga town of Carolina still presents a health risk, a High Court Judge said in Pretoria.
The water supply to the Roodepoort area was interrupted on Monday because of a burst pipe, Johannesburg Water said.
Weltevreden Park and Constantia Kloof were without water, said spokeswoman Millicent Kabwe.
“We experienced a pipe-burst yesterday night (Sunday) and technicians worked on the problem 'til this morning,” Kabwe said.
However when the valves were opened, no water came through.
Kabwe said workers had to go back to find out what was wrong.
“If the problem persists we will dispatch water tankers so that our residents are not inconvenienced. Our technicians are currently on the site.”
She said it was not easy to state when the supply would resume. – Sapa
