Johannesburg - Three people died when a private aircraft crashed at Lanseria Airport north west of Johannesburg on Monday morning, an airport official said.

“Something happened and it crashed on landing. It was flying in from one of the local airports,” said Lanseria Airport manager Gavin Sayce.

“All three people on board have died.”

He said the aircraft was a King Air 90.

Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba sent condolences to the families of people who died in the crash.

"Our sympathy to the families, even though we do not know what happened yet. We send our condolences and hope God will comfort them," Gigaba said at The New Age business breakfast briefing in Johannesburg. - Sapa
