Sport, music to close some Joburg roads

Johannesburg - Traffic will be diverted around three of Johannesburg's stadiums at the weekend for two major sporting events and a rock concert, metro police said on Friday.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said Corlett Drive would be closed between Rudd and Atholl Oaklands roads in Illovo from 7am until 6pm on Saturday, for the cricket test at Wanderers Stadium between South Africa and Pakistan.

Nasrec Road and the Soweto highway would be blocked off to traffic from 2pm until midnight on Saturday, for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' concert at FNB Stadium.

Mooki Street in Soweto would be closed in front of Orlando Stadium from 7am until 6pm on Saturday, for the rugby match between the Blue Bulls and the Lions. - Sapa
