A teenager was killed on Wednesday on the R28 between the N1and N12 in Randfontein, west of Johannesburg, paramedics said.
“A light motor vehicle veered off the road and rolled numerous times, landing on its roof,” ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said.
The accident occurred around 5pm and local fire services were on the scene when paramedics arrived. Banks said the boy, believed to be between 13 and 14, was apparently thrown from the car during the accident. He was declared dead on the scene.
A 30-year-old man, believed to be the driver, and a four-month-pregnant woman, 25, suffered lacerations to the head and possible concussions. They were taken to a hospital in Vereeniging.
Both were in a stable condition. The woman's unborn baby was unharmed. - Sapa
