A nine-month-old girl has drowned in a swimming pool in Klerksdorp, in the North West.
Vaal - A teenager drowned in a public swimming pool in Vanderbijlpark on Wednesday, paramedics said.
Witnesses saw the 16-year-old boy sitting on the side of the pool one minute and in the water the next, said ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson.
Lifeguards pulled him out of the water and tried to resuscitate him.
It appeared that he was stabilising and a helicopter was called to take him to hospital, but his condition deteriorated and he died, said Jackson. - Sapa

Our people are dying from AIDS and Tuberculosis - no medicine at public clinics, we are dying from high blood pressure and diabetes - no medicine at public clinics and NOW we are dying at public swimming pools because the council do not have qualified lifesavers to monitor the pool - instead they are letting their friends in for free at the back gate at Vanderbijlpark SE2 pool for a braai!
